10th Anniversary Football Match

to commemorate Barnsley FC's promotion to the premier league for the first time in their history.

The game was held on Monday 7th May at Barnsley FC Oakwell Stadium.

We would like to thank everyone who helped to make the charity football match a big success. Special thanks go to Bradford City Supporters Trust for working hard to organize things at the Bradford City end, Barnsley FC for their help and support and to all the people who helped on the day to enable us to stage the game.

The Supporters Trust had been in discussions with Barnsley FC and the players from the 1996/97 squad for the last 10 months about the possibility of organising a charity game to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the promotion to the Premier league. The Trust are delighted that we can now announce details of this match, which will give all Barnsley fans the opportunity to say a big Oakwell thank you to the players that enabled the supporters to live the dream. All profits from the match ticket sales will go towards the Dickie Bird Foundation to be ring fenced for charities in the Barnsley and Bradford area.
