The disabled supporters group aim to protect and promote the interests of disabled supporters at both home and away games, including away travel.
The disabled stand at Oakwell was opened in August 1985 and two ladies, Margaret Dunstan and Joan Dawson, looked after the supporters with drinks and pies. Both still work on match days in the disabled stand. Both Joan and her husband Ken, work on match days as the football club liaison officers for disabled supporters, ensuring that the needs of the disabled supporters from both the home and away team at Oakwell are catered for. Representatives of the Disabed Group recently met with Barnsley FC to review the disabled policy at Oakwell regarding ticketing.
