Sporting Dinner Monday 23rd June 2008
Darren Hayes, former Marketing Manager at Barnsley FC has organised a sporting dinner on Monday 23rd June at Brooklands Hotel, Barnsley starting at 7.00pm for 7.30pm with VIP party beforehand starting at 6.30pm.
Guest Speakers: Norman Whiteside (ex Manchester United & Northern Ireland) and Jan Molby (ex Liverpool and Denmark). The event will be Hosted by MC Malcolm Lord

Tickets are £35 each or of course £350 for table of 10

Main Sponsorship opportunities available for £1000, this includes a table of 10 and 2 seats on the top table

Most of you will know Darren from The Star, Barnsley Football Club, Barnsley Cricket Club or some of you will also be close friends. As most of you will be aware I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in June shortly after
leaving Barnsley Football Club last year. Darren had the operation to remove the cancer and also have had chemotherapy since then. Darren is hopeful within the next 3 months to get the all clear and will then only have to visit Weston Park for yearly check ups.

Darren has explained his reasons for organising the charity dinners below

Due to the fantastic treatment I received from Weston Park, I have decided to organise a series of charity dinners to raise awareness of male cancers and also to raise valuable funds to allow patients to receive the same marvellous treatment he received.

If you would like to attend the first event I would be delighted and you can email me back on this or my personal email [email protected] or call me on 07764939354. Tickets are going fast and I anticipate a full house for the first dinner.

I am still looking for a main sponsor for the event at present. The sponsorship includes branding at the event and all further literature, a table of 10 at the event and also 2 places on the top table for the event.

In addition to this I am looking for any donations for raffle prizes etc, as all monies raised on the night will be going to the hospital's cancer appeal.

I really hope you can make it to the evening and look forward to hearing from you all.

Many Thanks
Darren Hayes

Bees Fans take to the road again: Walk to Stockport
On April 26, a group of Brentford supporters will once again don their walking boots and embark on a mammoth walk from Griffin Park to their last away game of the season, Stockport County. Following on from the extremely successful Hartlepool and Brighton walks, which have raised over ¬£20,000 for the Supporters‚ Trust Bees United, another group of Bees supporters will attempt the 176 miles to Stockport.

The supporters, who will include several of the finishers from the Brighton trek, intend to make the journey over several days, leaving on the final whistle at Griffin Park and arriving in time for the game at Stockport on the following Saturday.

With all the furore over the recently rejected proposal to play a 39th Premiership game abroad it is more important than ever that we highlight the fans and their importance to our wonderful game.

The walkers chose Stockport County as their destination precisely for this reason. Just like Brentford, Stockport is also owned by its supporters. Their Supporters‚ Trust has had great success and their team is currently sitting in a play off place. Add to that Brentford‚ s recent news regarding the Lionel Road project and the long awaited arrival of a roof on Ealing Road and you begin to see just how much difference the supporters can make when pulling together. Natasha Judge, Fundraising Director at Bees United, believes that the power and influence that supporters can have should be highlighted much more and hopes that this walk will not only raise funds, but also raise the profile of two of the English league‚ s more successful Supporters‚ Trusts.

Dan Levy, a member of County's Trust board, says: "The long distance walking of Brentford's fans is inspiring, and helps to remind us all that football is about fans. County and Brentford have a lot in common - we are both fan-owned neighbourhood clubs close to large and impersonal premiership giants - and we look forward to welcoming the Bees in May"

The walkers will be raising money for Bees United and the Paul Levitt Foundation. Paul, who is a Physio at the Centre of Excellence at the Brentford Football Club Community Sports Trust, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in his thirties and a proportion of the money raised will be donated to his charity, which supports Cancer Research organisations throughout the country.

"Together fans can make a real difference to the way football as an industry treats its customers" says Natasha, "It' s vital that Brentford supporters all pull in the same direction, that way the club will ultimately go on to be a success" .

If you would like to show your support for the walkers, you can sponsor them online at, or by sending a cheque/postal order to Natasha Judge, C/O Bees United, Griffin Park, Brentford, London
Kindest Regards
Natasha Judge

Collection Update
The collection in memory of the young Hull City Supporters who was tragically killed on the way to Oakwell for our recent championship game raised a total of £282.50.

£111.74 was collected in the Office, with a further £170.76 was raised on the executive floor. We would like to thank Mike (MC on the exec. floor), Adrian Willis and Bill Wood for helping and organising the collection on the Exec. Floor.

Collections on Saturday
There will be two collections at the Supporters Trust office on Saturday against Leicester.

A collection inside the Trust Office on Saturday will be for Gordon Shepherd. The collection is being organised by Laura Herring, a young lady who often describbes herself as a stroppy teenager, but is an inspiration to many. Mr Shepherd has done quite a bit for her and for CFSN so she felt that it was only right that she repaid him in some way.

She decided that as he was leaving she would send/give him a token of her appreciation. When it was mentioned yesterday that maybe we ought to do something for him, she jumped at the chance, hence the request asking if anyone else wanted to contribute. After a few positive responses, she asked the Trust if she could use the Trust office on saturday as a focal point for anyone who wanted to make a donation. She is well aware that not everyone sees eye to eye with Gordon and therefore it is purely voluntary if anyone wants to donate.

In addition, there will be a collection outside the Trust office for the young Hull City lad, who tragically died in a multi vehicle accident on his way to his first ever away game watching the Tigers at Oakwell. We've been in touch with people over in Hull close to Billy Fletcher's family and it is too sensitive a time at the moment to be asking them if they would like flowers or donations etc sent. With this in mind, we are going to have a collection box outside the Supporters Trust Office on Saturday if anyone would like to contribute. Our contacts in hull will let us know an appropriate use for the collection. Billy was a exceptional footballer by all acccounts, top scorer at his club, so his family may wish donations to made to the club.
