Big match preview v Ipswich
Tuesday sees the reds return to championship action after the exploits against Chelsea in the FA Cup on saturday. Barnsley go into the game in 19th place, only 4 points above 3rd bottom Wednesday. Barnsley need to improve the recent league form and hopefully a large crowd will be at Oakwell to cheer Barnsley on. Whilst having a good home record, the reds have drawn a blank in the last two home games in the league, with two scoreless draws. Ipswucih are flying high, in 8th place with 53 points, however, they have only won two games away from home this season in the league. Weather permitting, this should be a close encounter, and all Barnsley fans must hope that the players minds can be focused on the league.

Big Match preview Blackpool
Tuesday 4th March sees Barnsley travel to bloomfield Road for a championship tie agaist Blackpool. Barnsley desperately need to improve their dreadful away form that has only seen two wins away from Oakwell this season. Blackpool will prove to be tough opponents though, going into the game on the back of a 2-1 win against Norwich. Blackpools home form is good, with only three defeats and 7 wins from 17 games, with the last home game a 5-3 thriller against Charlton. With places up for grabs in the Barnsley team for the FA Cup game on Saturday, the game promises to be a tight match, with the team needing to address the poor away form to avoid being dragged into an unwelcome relegation scrap. THe view from Oakwell for this game has been supplied by Phil Taylor

Kayodi odijayi- getting better with every game. coming on from a sub ,makes an impact straight away ,More to come from him
Which Opposition Player do you most fear and why?
James Beetie ,his poaching style of scoring goals ,could be a decisive factor on the outcome of the game against Sheffield united.
Where do you think Barnsley will finish this season?
What do you think the score will be?
2-2 or we could come out and recreate the game against Liverpool.!

Confidence must be high ,consistency needed in winning a home ,and to turn round the statistics and win a few more away games

Big Match Preview Reds v Owls
Saturday 1 st March sees Barnsley FC resume their battles against Sheffield Wednesday at Oakwell. Barnsley go into the game at Oakwell on the back of a 0-0 draw against QPR on Tuesday night, when the reds failed to find the back of the net despite numerous chances. The reds have only lost two games at home all season; however, the concern of many reds fans is that they might have their minds on the forthcoming fixture against Chelsea in the FA cup quarterfinal. The Owls go into the game, in the bottom three, having won only 3 away games, drawn 4 and lost 9 away from home. The Owls won the corresponding fixture last season and also won the fixture at Hillsborough earlier this season so must go into the fixture with some optimism. Whether the off field issues will affect the Owls remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain it should be a tightly fought South Yorkshire Derby. The view from Oakwell is this week provided by Owen Scrimshaw, whilst Michael Lewis of Rotherham provides the view from Hillsborough.

Current home town:
How long have you supported Barnsley?
Over 30 years
Overview of your club:
Favourite thing about your home ground:
The closeness to the pitch and the atmosphere that can be created by the ponty.
Favourite match played by Barnsley & why:
It has to be Barnsley v Bradford City on the 26 th April 1997, when Barnsley beat Bradford 2-0 to secure promotion to the premiership for the first and only time (to date),
Favourite player of all time who played for Barnsley:
Has to be Ronnie Glavin, the midfield maestro who could turn a game with one move
About our forthcoming match against Sheffield Wednesday:
Your favourite current Barnsley player and why?

Anderson De Silva, he looks a class apart and is clearly a very skilful player, we miss him, when he is not available and it is noticeable.
Which Opposition Player do you most fear and why?
Nobody immediately jumps out at me, although Simek and Tudgay can cause problems if they are on top of their form
Where do you think Barnsley will finish this season?
What do you think the score will be?
2-1 to Barnsley

Favourite Thing About Home Ground
Hillsborough rises to the big occasions. When we have games with large crowd numbers i.e. The steel city derby, the noise generated always amazes me.
Favourite Match Played by Sheffield Wednesday and Why
I would have to say the Play-off final in 2005, it had everything, the great occasion of the day out and the build up. Then there was jubilation to despair and then back to jubilation again all within 120 minutes of football.
Favourite Sheffield Wednesday Player of All Time and why
David Hirst, the man had a lethal left foot and you always knew that as long as he was on the pitch a goal could come at any time.
Favourite Current Sheffield Wednesday Player
Frankie Simek, when he joined us not a lot was expected of him as he didn't have much first team experience. However his performances at right back have been nothing short of brilliant and he has even managed to break into the US international squad. Opposition Player Fear Most
Brian Howard, I think when he is on form, he could probably grace any Premiership team.
What Do You think The Score Will Be Against Barnsley
I don't think there will be a runaway winner like this fixture last season (famous last words). However Brian Laws always manages to get his teams to rise for the derbies and I am going to go for a close 1 – 0 Wednesday.
Where Do You Think Sheffield Wednesday Will Finish This Season
We are in a dogfight at the moment, make no mistake about it, I would be more than happy to finish 21 st .
Other Comments
I knew that at the moment we are not doing well and Barnsley are concentrating on a big game against Chelsea. But I am hoping fans of both sides will turn up to this game, make it a large attendance and the special fixture that it usually is

Big Match Preview QPR 26th October
Barnsley take on QPR on Tuesday 26th at Oakwell. Barnsley's home form is in stark contrast to their away form and they must be hoping that this continues against a QPR side, 1 place higher in the league by virtue of a better goal difference. QPR's form has seen a massive improvement since the start of the season, and they have now wone 4 away games, drawing 5 and losing 7. They are one of the two richest teams in the country in terms of financial backing and spent heavily in the January Transfer window. The game promises to be a hard fought game by two teams evenly matched on the pitch, if not in the bank accounts.

Below is the views from Oakwell, supplied By Oliver Davies.

How long have you supported Barnsley FC :
All my life
Favourite thing about Oakwell: T
hat it isn’t taken over by sponsors. There is a west, east and north stand along with the ‘ponty end’. Also, the stadium is still called Oakwell, rather than the ‘Bradford and Bingley’ stadium or the ‘Ricoh Arena’
Favourite Current Barnsley Player:
Anderson De Silva. Without his safe cover and skilful play our defence and attack are left unsure. Both the holding midfielder and a distributer, with skill, pace, decision making and attacking ability as well. Might not score goals, make saves or assist forwards; but is our best talent none the less.
Opposition player you most fear:
Patrick Adgeman. I don’t actually think that they have any truly class talents, definitely not Adgeman, but he is the form player and does show basic strikers instinct.
Where do you think Barnsley will finish the season:
I hope to finish in the mid table spots and think we will. Assure survival and long live the cup run.
What do you think the Score will be against QPR:
reds 2 – 0 rangers. Our home form is incredible and I fancy a turn around from our trip to their place. Good morale from the cup pushes Norwich out of minds and secures a much needed three points.
Any other comments
I don’t know what Anderson’s injury is, but hopefully it will be not too bad and will make it for Chelsea.

Big Match Preview - Norwich City
Norwich City at Carrow Road, 23rd February

Our next opponents are Norwich City, managed by Glenn Roeder. and are currently in 13th place in the league, with 2 points from 33 games. Norwich's season has turned round since Glemnn Roeder signed on as manager, with the team escaping from the bottom three following a good run, that came to a halt last Saturday against Leicester at the Walkers Stadium. Norwich have won 6, drawn 6 and lost 4 at home, whilst Barnsley's away record in the league is dreadful, winning only once away from home, drawing 5 and losing 10. The reds must be bouyed though by the magnificent win at Anfield in the FA Cup and if they can perform at the same standard, they should be able to double the number of away wins in the league this seaspn.

In the fixture at Oakwell earlier this season, Norwich brought Barnsley's unbeaten run to an end with a 3-0 win. That said I would favour a 0-0 draw on saturday. . The views of two supporters are below, the Barnsley view from Emma Labedski of Barnsley and the canaries view from Mike Reynolds.

How Long Have You Supported Barnsley

About 10 years
Favourite Thing About Home Ground
The close proximity of the crowd to the pitch which gives the club a friendly community atmosphere. Stadiums like the Nou Camp are spectacular, but you feel distant and removed from the action – at Oakwell the players sign autographs and pose for photos with kids before matches – small actions like this can really make the difference.
Favourite Match Played by Barnsley and Why
Barnsley V Huddersfield Town in the First Division, 1998. It was one of the first-ever matches I saw live at Oakwell and got me hooked on the game and Barnsley F.C. To be leading 7-0 at half-time against your local rivals is a fantastic feeling and even today it remains the most complete and satisfying game I've ever seen at Oakwell
Favourite Barnsley Player of All Time and why
Chris Morgan – passionate and committed to the cause during his time at the club. He's proved that a local lad can progress through the ranks to become first-team captain and has ‘lived the dream' by playing in the Premiership. I think that many of our youngsters can take inspiration from that
Favourite Current Barnsley Player
Lewin Nyatanga – in spite of a couple of recent blips, he's calm, composed under pressure and reads the game well. At just 19, he's still a raw talent learning his trade, but I think he has the ability to be an immense presence in the game for many years to come
Opposition Player Fear Most
The pace and trickery of Darren Huckerby is always a threat – he's somewhat a ‘bogey' player for Barnsley , having scored against us for every team he's played in. I've also been impressed with the form of Ched Evans, the young striker on loan from Manchester City, who carved our defence apart to score a brilliant individual goal at Oakwell earlier in the season
What Do You think The Score Will Be Against Norwich
2-1 to the Tykes – our disappointing away form can't last forever and I'm hoping that this will be the day when our luck changes
Where Do You Think Barnsley Will Finish This Season
Mid-table. The aim last season was to avoid relegation, which we achieved, so now we have to build on that and show a marked improvement. I think that our squad is stronger and more experienced than last season, so hopefully our final league position will reflect that.
Other Comments
This game comes on the back of our F.A. Cup 5 th Round tie against Liverpool – after the glamour and prestige of lining up against Gerrard and co. at Anfield, there is a danger of it being something of an anti-climax (no disrespect intended); however, I'm confident that Simon Davey will focus the players' minds and get them to concentrate on the task in hand

The view from Carrow Road

Mike Reynolds (Secretary of Norwich City Supporters Trust)
Current home town:
How long have you supported your team?
Twenty years

Overview of your club:
Favourite thing about your home ground:

A number of plusses, I can walk to it, recently it has been full almost every match and of course Delia's effect on catering facilities.
Favourite match played by your team & why:
Home to Bayern Munich, a european adventure that will never be repeated.
Favourite player of all time who played for your club:
Chris Sutton

About our forthcoming match against you:
Your favourite current player in your squad and why?

Ryan Bertrand, only on loan from Chelsea but what a future he should have in the game.
Which Player in your squad should we fear the most and why?
Dion Dublin (oh no he's suspended), Darrel Russell (he's also suspended), Mark Fotheringham (likewise) not much to fear then!
Which Player in our squad do you most fear and why?
Luke Steele, if he plays like he did against Liverpool our "pqwder puf" forwards won't stand a chance.
Who is the up and coming prospect in your squad?
I just wish there were some,Glen Roeder has not been impressed with our youngsters that is why we have so many Premiership kids on loan. Ched Evans from Man City looks to have a future.
Where do you think you'll finish this season?
Pre Roeder and with Grant in charge the bottom three looked a certainty so anywhere above the relegation zone.
What do you think the score will be against us?
Any other comments?
I hope you all have as good a day at Carrow Road as we enjoyed as guests of your Trust last year.
