Barnsley FC team captain Jacob Butterfield capped off a remarkable start to the season with his first call up to the England U21 squad for the forthcoming Under-21s European Championship Qualification double-header against Iceland at Colchester United's Weston Homes Community Stadium  on Thursday 10 November and then on 14 November when they take on Belgium at RAEC Mons.

Jacob was scheduled to attend our fans forum meeting on tuesday 8th but will now be with his England team mates preparing for the games, so unfortunately cannot attend.

A Supporters Trust spokesperson said "This is a superb opportunity for Jacob, and one that is fully deserved after some fantastic performances for Barnsley this season.  This is also a tremendous accolade for Barnsley FC, the management and his colleagues at Oakwell.  We hope this is the first of many call ups for Jacob"
