The constitution of the Trust emphasis the importance of involvement with the community in general. Contacts will be made with Football in the Community, a valuable source of potential Junior Members of the Trust, and continuation and expansion of the links the former organisations ad developed with the Academy and Football in the Community.
As part of its aim of increasing its profile in the Barnsley community, Barnsley FC Supporters Trust have recently donated football strips to several schools in the Barnsley area. These schools including Edward Sheerien School, Darton High School, Penistone Grammer School and the Richard Newman Primary school. This scheme has been set up by George Myers (a member of the Trust Board) and continues his work conducted with the Supporters Society. We wish all the schools well and hope that the shirts brings their teams all the luck.
The Trust has also recently donated a football kit to Elmhirst Secondary School's year 7 girls football team. The team recently represented the school in the Barnsley School's tournament, the first girl's team to represent the school for six years. We wish the team and school all the best for the future.
The Supporters Trust are currently planning to introduce the make a tyke smile scheme. Details will be announced shorrtly.
